Activity report: Monitoring Outcome of Climate-Smart Agriculture in Kaffrine ClimateSmart Village, Senegal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A Climate-Smart Village (CSV) monitoring survey was carried out in Senegal from 14 to 24 November, 2019 by CCAFS WA and CCAFS/CIAT team. Prior to the survey, a one-week training workshop was organized in Kaffrine, from 8 to 13 November 2019 to build the ...

Benchmarking of a micro gas turbine model integrated with post-combustion CO2 capture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The deployment of post-combustion CO2 capture on large-scale gas-fired power plants is currently progressing, hence the integration of the power and capture plants requires a good understanding of operational requirements and limitations to support ...

Upconversion Nanoparticles Embedded Photonic Contact Lens for Transepithelial Corneal Crosslinking Using Hyaluronate – Riboflavin Conjugate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive, transepithelial corneal cross‐linking (TE‐CXL) approach is presented using upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs)‐loaded contact lenses (UCLs), after topical delivery of hyaluronate–riboflavin conjugates. The NIR‐to‐UV/blue light conversion by UCNPs in a UCL can activate riboflavin for TE‐CXL, resulting in the biomechanical strength ...

Oral Dosed Organo‐Silica Nanoparticles Restore Glucose Homeostasis and β‐Cell Function in Diabetes Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An oral nanoplatform, MOP@T@D, which can maintain glucose homeostasis and restore islet β cells in diabetic rats is developed. It achieves efficient intestinal absorption and liver‐targeted delivery. The nanoparticle disintegrates only in response to hyperglycemia to release insulin on demand and provides antioxidant protection through selenoprotein ...

Process simulations of post-combustion CO2 capture for coal and natural gas-fired power plants using a polyethyleneimine/silica adsorbent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The regeneration heat for a polyethyleneimine (PEI)/silica adsorbent based carbon capture system is first assessed in order to evaluate its effect on the efficiency penalty of a coal or natural gas power plant. Process simulations are then carried out on

SI‐bioATRP in Mesoporous Silica for Size‐Exclusion Driven Local Polymer Placement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An enzyme‐catalyzed surface‐initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI‐bioATRP) of an anionic monomer within mesoporous silica particles, using hemoglobin as a catalyst, allows for controlling the location of the formed polymer via size‐exclusion effects between the nanopores and the biomacromolecules, thereby opening routes to functional ...

From material characterization to process simulation: Performance evaluation of amine-infused resins for CO2 capture

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Selective capture of CO2 using solid CO2 sorbents provides an effective solution for a simplified CO2 capture process, however it demands high CO2 capture performance with low regeneration energy.

Application of innovative risk assessment methodology for damage mechanisms identification on part of amine regeneration unit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
When implementing the method for quantitative risk analysis, usually based on RBI (Risk Based Inspection), conditions which directly influence the identification of damage mechanisms are defined at the beginning of the analysis. Thus, conducted analysis applies to the exact parameters and very specific combinations of conditions and damage mechanisms ...

Cold Quad‐Modal Nanocomplex for Precise and Quantitative In Vivo Stem Cell Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal albumin–bismuth sulfide–superparamagnetic iron oxide (ABS) nanocomplexes are developed for stem cell tracking across four different imaging modalities: MRI, MPI, MSOT, and CT. Combining its flexibility with high sensitivity, this quad‐modal imaging agent enables a robust quantification of ABS‐labeled stem cells in vivo.
