Ammonia–Borane and Amine–Borane Dehydrogenation Mediated by Complex Metal Hydrides

Chemical Reviews, 2016
This review is a comprehensive survey of the last 10 years of research on ammonia-borane and amine-borane dehydrogenation mediated by complex metal hydrides (CMHs), within the broader context of chemical hydrogen storage. The review also collects those cases where CMHs are the catalyst spent form or its resting state.

Ammonia borane as hydrogen storage materials

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2018
Abstract Ammonia borane is an appropriate solid hydrogen storage material because of its high hydrogen content of 19.6% wt., high stability under ambient conditions, nontoxicity, and high solubility in common solvents. Hydrolysis of ammonia borane appears to be the most efficient way of releasing hydrogen stored in it.

Borane-Catalyzed Transfer Hydrogenations of Pyridines with Ammonia Borane

Organic Letters, 2016
With the use of ammonia borane as a hydrogen source, a borane catalyzed metal-free transfer hydrogenation of pyridines was successfully realized for the first time to furnish a variety of piperidines in 44-88% yields with moderate to excellent cis-selectivities.

Ammonia-mediated, large-scale synthesis of ammonia borane

Dalton Trans., 2014
The presence of NH3 allows a high concentration, ambient temperature synthesis of ammonia borane from sodium borohydride in air using reagent-grade THF.

Ammonia Borane Based-Propellants

44th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2008
The combustion of ammonia borane (AB) is studied as a potential fuel or propellant ingredient for propulsion applications. Theoretical equilibrium analyses indicate that due to the high hydrogen content of AB and moderate exothermicity of decomposition, it has the potential to boost Isp, thereby increase performance.
