Triamcinolone Activation of Renal Ammonia Production
SummaryAdministering triamcinolone, 1 mg kg-1 24 h-1, results in increased ammonium excretion which resembles that observed during acid loading. This increase cannot be attributed to tubular ion exchanges or potassium depletion but, rather, is due to triamcinolone's effect upon renal ammonia production.

Growth of Millimeter‐Sized BaTaO2N Single Crystals by an NH3‐Assisted BaCl2 Flux Method
Millimeter‐sized BaTaO2N single crystals are successfully grown from a BaCl2 flux under NH3 flow. Their comprehensive characterization, including dielectric properties, is demonstrated, and the possible growth mechanisms are discussed. Abstract Perovskite‐type oxynitrides have attracted considerable attention due to their excellent photocatalytic ...

Vacuum‐based deposition is promising for perovskite solar cells to be successfully commercialized. However, co‐evaporation, the most common vapor phase deposition technique, suffers from very low deposition rates. In this work, we reveal that high deposition rates can lead to carbon flakes depositing into the perovskite absorber layers due to material ...

Ammonia toxicity: from head to toe? [PDF]
Ammonia is diffused and transported across all plasma membranes. This entails that hyperammonemia leads to an increase in ammonia in all organs and tissues.

A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Utilization of urea, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate by crop plants in a Controlled Ecological Life Support System (CELSS) [PDF]
The utilization of nitrogen compounds by crop plants is studied. The selection of crop varieties for efficient production using urea, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, and the assimilation of mixed nitrogen sources by cereal leaves and roots are ...

Apatite occurs in many forms in nature, e.g. in teeth and geological minerals. Internally, biological apatite contains nanocrystals that are also found in synthetically prepared calcium phosphate nanoparticles which are used in biomedicine, e.g. for gene and drug delivery and for bone regeneration. Abstract Calcium phosphate is the inorganic component (
