Observations on Ammonia and Volatile Amines in Milk

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1961
Summary A gas-liquid chromatography method was developed for milk and applied to good and feed-flavored milks. All fresh milk contained ammonia, propyl and hexyl amines. Feed-flavored milk contained higher concentrations of n-propyl and n-hexyl amines than were found in good-flavored milk.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Development and evaluation of shallow injection of slurry into ley [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Shallow injection of slurry on grassland can reduce ammonia emissions compared to surface spreading and increase plant nitrogen utilisation. Other advantages include enhanced silage quality and lower odour.

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Ammonia volatilization from enhanced-efficiency urea on no-till maize in brazilian cerrado with improved soil fertility

open access: yesCiência e Agrotecnologia, 2016
High nitrogen losses by ammonia volatilization are expected when urea is used as the source of N. The use of controlled-release urea and urease inhibitors are possible strategies to reduce such losses and increase nitrogen use efficiency.

Flexible Chemiresistive Chitosan‐Glycerol Sensors on Laser‐Induced Graphene Electrodes for Room‐Temperature Ammonia Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible Chitosan‐glycerol sensor integrated with porous laser‐induced graphene (LIG) electrodes enable room‐temperature chemiresistive detection of ammonia (NH3) and proof‐of‐concept detection of fish spoilage. ABSTRACT We report a metal‐free sensor platform combining laser induced graphene (LIG) electrodes with drop‐deposited, glycerol‐plasticized ...

Synergistic Effect of Influence Factors on Ammonia Volatilization in Fertilizer Solution: A Laboratory Experiment

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Ammonia volatilization, which is one of the main ways that nitrogen gas is released from farmland, restricts promotion of the utilization of nitrogen fertilizer and contains some potential environmental risks.

Incorporation of deep litter reduce ammonia volatilization: Effect of incorporation depth and timing (Short Communication)

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment: X, 2022
Ammonia volatilization following land application can account for up to 70% of the ammonium content in deep litter. Soil incorporation reduce this volatilization significantly.
