Mechanoformation of ammonium perchlorate-potassium perchlorate solid solutions
Ammonium perchlorate-potassium perchlorate mixtures, upon pelletization, form a series of homogeneous solid solutions as manifested by X-ray powder diffractograms. Scanning electron microscopic studies throw light on the mechanism of the solid-solution formation. Solid solutions of ammonium perchlorate-potassium perchlorate have also been obtained by a

Combustion studies on ammonium perchlorate/trimethylammonium perchlorate mixtures
A study of the burning rates of compressed mixtures of ammonium perchlorate (AP) and trimethylammonium perchlorate (TMAP) has been carried out at ambient pressure. The overall increase in the linear burning rate, showing a maximum at a composition having 80% TMAP, has been discussed in terms of factors such as stoichiometry, presence of faster burning ...

CONTRIBUTION OF AMMONIUM IONS TO THE LETHALITY AND ANTIMETAMORPHIC EFFECTS OF AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2006AbstractAmmonium perchlorate (AP) is a widespread military waste product in the United States and is a potent thyroid function disruptor in all vertebrates tested thus far. To determine the relative contribution of ammonium ions to the toxicity of AP, we exposed embryonic and larval Xenopus laevis to various concentrations of sodium perchlorate (SP) or

Atomic Force Microscopy of Ammonium Perchlorate
AbstractWe have studied the (210) surface of ammonium perchlorate (NH4ClO4) with an atomic force microscope (AFM) in air. Large scale images show monomoreculat steps that are often aligned with major crystalline directions. Surface modification is clearly observed with forces as low as 30 nN, but is usually limited to the bottom and the sides of the ...

Investigation of ammonium perchlorate by nanoindentation
Materials Science and Technology, 2006The near surface of cleaved {210} planes of ammonium perchlorate (AP) was studied by nanoindentation. The crystals were etched to determine the {210} surface and the resulting etch pits were investigated with atomic force microscopy (AFM). The sides and bottom of the etch pits had a terraced structure.

Ammonium perchlorate and ammonium perchlorate-binder sandwich combustion
12th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1974order of 300 \i in width. The deflagration of all three burners appeared laminar, with a definite temperature peak above the center of the burner. The PP-COMM AP had a scalloped surface which accounted for a more unsteady appearance of the gas flow above the deflagrating AP. A yellow-green zone was visible within the SC-UHP AP extending from the burner
