Sustainable and Multifunctional Natural Macromolecular Polymers for Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We comprehensively review the structure‐function relationships and regulatory mechanism of natural macromolecular polymers in stabilizing zinc anodes at the microscopic and mesoscopic scales. The interactions among polymer structures, optimization strategies, and regulatory mechanisms are discussed systematically summarizing recent related research ...

Influence of salts of metals on nitrate reduction by sulfate reducing bacteria

open access: yesБіологічні студії, 2013
It was established that strains of sulfate reducing bacteria Desulfovibrio desulfuricans ІМV K-6, Desulfovibrio sp. Yav-6 and Desulfovibrio sp. Yav-8 isolated from Yavorivske lake, were able to carry out dissimilatory nitrate reduction in medium without ...

Flax Composites With Improved Interfacial Strength Through Microbially Induced Mineral Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired biomineralization strategy introduces an additional hierarchy to flax fiber composites. By controlling microbe‐mediated mineral particle deposition through tuned salt concentrations, stress transfer within the natural fiber composite is enhanced.

Negotiating in a Foreign Land: Understanding the Curious Interactions Between Intracellular Mitochondria and Internalized Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...

THE INFLUENCE OF AMMONIUM SALTS ON CELL REACTION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1922
1. It may be shown by means of cells of the flowers of a hybrid Rhododendron which contain a natural indicator, by means of starfish eggs stained with neutral red, and by means of an "artificial cell" in which living frog's skin is employed that increased intracellular alkalinity may be brought about by solutions of a decidedly acid reaction which ...

Cation‐π Interaction‐Based Biointerface for Low‐Cost PD‐1 Detection Toward NSCLC Immunotherapy Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A cation‐π interaction‐based biointerface is engineered on a CNT‐FET for label‐free detection of PD‐1. PD‐1 monoclonal antibodies are orientedly immobilized via cation‐π interactions between PCz‐wrapped semiconducting single‐walled carbon nanotubes and the Fc region of the monoclonal antibody.

Photolysis and Sublimation Chemistry of Ammonium Cyanide with Relevance to Cometary Environments

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Bulk nitrogen is depleted in solar system objects, including the terrestrial planets, chondritic meteorites, and comets. Recently, it was suggested that cometary nitrogen may be locked up in ammonium salts—ionic solids comprising ammonia (NH _3 ) and an ...
