IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Depositional ice nucleation on solid ammonium sulfate and glutaric acid particles [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2010
Heterogeneous ice nucleation on solid ammonium sulfate and glutaric acid particles was studied using optical microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Optical microscopy was used to detect selective nucleation events as water vapor was slowly introduced into an

Suppressive Effect of Sulfate on Establishment of Rice Seedlings in Submerged Soil May be Due to Sulfide Generation around the Seeds

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2013
Direct seeding is a labor-saving rice cultivation method, but poor establishment is a major obstacle to the widespread use of this practice. This study examined the suppressive effect of ammonium sulfate, a nitrogen fertilizer, on seedling establishment ...

EFFECTS OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC NITROGEN ON THE PRODUCTIVITY OF COCONUT GROWN ON THREE IMPORTANT SOIL TYPES IN LEYTE, PHILIPPINES

open access: yesCORD, 1993
Severe nitrogen‑deficiency in unfertilized plots resulted in low bearing percentage (19.62%) of the palms. Highest bearing percentage of 68.82% was observed on palms applied with 1.5 kg ammonium sulfate per palm per year. Application of 2 kg ammonium

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.
