Spectrophotometric determination of osmium with ammonium thiocyanate
Fresenius' Zeitschrift für analytische Chemie, 1968A spectrophotometric method for the determination of osmium using ammonium thiocyanate is described. A stable reddish brown colour with an absorption maximum at 440 nm is produced when osmium tetroxide is heated for 30 min at a pH between 1 to 4 over a boiling water bath with excess reagent.

Molecular tunneling dynamics of NH3D+ in ammonium sulfate and ammonium thiocyanate
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1993The kinetics of NH3D+ rotation in ammonium sulfate and ammonium thiocyanate are measured at low temperature (8–60 K). Infrared hole burning of the N–D stretching bands causes reorientation of the ions among distinct positions relative to the crystal lattice, producing nonequilibrium population distributions.

Effects of ammonia/ammonium thiocyanate on cotton fabric [PDF]
AbstractThe effect of ammonia/ammonium thiocyanate (NH3/NH4SCN) treatment of the swelling behavior, structural changes, and physical properties of cotton sheeting was compared with that of sodium hydroxide and liquid ammonia mercerization. Increased percent shrinkage, accessibility to a large dye molecule, dyestuff absorption, swelling with water, and ...

Microbiological Oxidation of Ammonium and Thiocyanate Ions in Soil
Nature, 1951AMMONIUM sulphate1 and sodium thiocyanate2, when perfused through chalked soils neutralized by calcium carbonate, are metabolized by the growth of specific groups of soil microflora on the soil crumb surface to nitrate and ammonium sulphate respectively.

Volumetric determination of copper by precipitation with ammonium thiocyanate
Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1977Potassium dichromate was employed for the determination of copper by precipitation as cuprous thiocyanate. 1·0–10·0 mg of copper was accurately determined by this procedure. The method was applied for the analysis of copper in Devarda’s alloy and chalcopyrites.

Copper-catalyzed thiocyanation of cyclobutanone oxime esters using ammonium thiocyanate
Organic & Biomolecular ChemistryA copper-catalyzed thiocyanation of cyclobutanone oxime esters by potassium ammonium thiocyanate was achieved for the first time. Subsequent derivatization of thiocyano substituted alkylnitriles led to various sulfur-containing alkylnitriles.

The corrosion of mild steel by aqueous ammonium thiocyanate
Journal of Applied Chemistry, 1957AbstractMild steel was exposed at room temperature and in stagnant conditions to aqueous 1·0N‐ and 0·1N‐ammonium thiocyanate at various pH values, to ascertain the respective pH‐ranges of (1) uniform attack, (2) localized attack and (3) complete inhibition. For comparison, similar experiments were made with ammonium chloride and with ammonium sulphate.
