Visible-Light-Promoted Aerobic α-Thiocyanation of Carbonyl Compounds with Ammonium Thiocyanate

The Journal of Organic Chemistry
In the present study, we successfully developed an efficient thiocyanation of carbonyl compounds by using low-toxicity and inexpensive ammonium thiocyanate as the thiocyanate source under visible light in air (O2) at room temperature. This unified strategy is very facile for thiocyanation of various carbonyl compound derivatives (β-keto esters, β-keto ...

Spectrophotometric determination of osmium with ammonium thiocyanate

Fresenius' Zeitschrift für analytische Chemie, 1968
A spectrophotometric method for the determination of osmium using ammonium thiocyanate is described. A stable reddish brown colour with an absorption maximum at 440 nm is produced when osmium tetroxide is heated for 30 min at a pH between 1 to 4 over a boiling water bath with excess reagent.

A facile preparation of ammonium [14C]thiocyanate

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2005
An attractive and simple method has been developed for the preparation of ammonium [14C]thiocyanate from [14C]thiourea which eliminates the necessity of handling highly hazardous potassium [14C] cyanide. [14C]thiourea was isomerized to ammonium [14C]thiocyanate by heating the aqueous solution of thiourea (12%) in a sealed tube at 160 °C for 24 hours ...

Molecular tunneling dynamics of NH3D+ in ammonium sulfate and ammonium thiocyanate

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1993
The kinetics of NH3D+ rotation in ammonium sulfate and ammonium thiocyanate are measured at low temperature (8–60 K). Infrared hole burning of the N–D stretching bands causes reorientation of the ions among distinct positions relative to the crystal lattice, producing nonequilibrium population distributions.

High Pressure NMR Study of Ammonium Thiocyanate

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1993
Wide-line proton NMR spectra of ammonium thiocyanate have been recorded at 77 K as a function of external hydrostatic pressure. Contrary to expectations the line-width and the second moment decrease with the increase of pressure. This, however, is in accordance with the anomalous behaviour observed in other magnetic resonance studies of this compound ...

Microbiological Oxidation of Ammonium and Thiocyanate Ions in Soil

Nature, 1951
AMMONIUM sulphate1 and sodium thiocyanate2, when perfused through chalked soils neutralized by calcium carbonate, are metabolized by the growth of specific groups of soil microflora on the soil crumb surface to nitrate and ammonium sulphate respectively.
