Reduced Cerebral Blood Flow in the Early Chronic Phase of Recurrent Concussion Among Female Collegiate‐Aged Athletes

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 9, June 15, 2026.
In a sample of healthy collegiate‐aged athletes, we observed that greater lifetime concussion history was associated with global and frontotemporal hypoperfusion, an effect seen exclusively in female athletes. These findings suggest a potentially modifiable, sex‐specific marker that could support earlier detection and intervention in concussion‐related

Redirecting Alzheimer's disease therapeutics: Multitarget drugs and complementary non‐pharmacological strategies

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder driven by intersecting pathological processes. Persistent attrition in AD drug‐development pipelines highlights the limited clinical impact of single‐target therapies and has increased interest in multi‐target approaches acting on shared biological hubs.

Dementia etiology classification using NULISA plasma biomarkers and machine learning

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Accurate ante mortem differentiation among dementia etiologies remains challenging, particularly for atypical or mixed clinical presentations. Multiplexed plasma proteomics paired with supervised machine learning offers a minimally invasive and accessible approach for differential diagnosis.

Longitudinal Cerebral Perfusion Change in Transient Global Amnesia Related to Left Posterior Medial Network Disruption

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundThe pathophysiology of transient global amnesia (TGA) is not fully understood. Previousstudies using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) have reported inconclusiveresults regarding cerebral perfusion.

Microglial Activation Under Hypoxic Conditions in Early Alzheimer's Disease: Can Natural SIRT1 Activators Be Therapeutic Allies in the Inflammation–Energy Axis?

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 3354-3368, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition characterized by a preclinical stage that typically lasts for decades. Early on during this time, microglia react to pathological changes and become protective and even transiently delay neurodegeneration.

Hippocampal reversible lesions in a case of transient global amnesia

open access: yes, 2018
We report the case of 55-year-old man that after an emotional stress showed retrograde and anterograde amnesia with impairment of orientation in space and time but undisturbed consciousness. A neurological examination excluded other neurological signs or

Conceptualizing Emergency Operations Centres as Teams: A Review of Teamwork and Information Sharing in Crisis Management (2014–2024)

open access: yesJournal of Contingencies and Crisis Management, Volume 34, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT During crises, efficient coordination, information sharing, and decision‐making are critical but difficult to achieve due to the complexity and uncertainty. This review aims to describe how Emergency Operation Centres (EOCs) can be conceptualized as a team with particular attention to teamwork and information sharing during crisis management ...

Transient global amnesia associated with bilateral subdural hematomas.

open access: yes, 1985
An elderly man presenting with an episode of transient global amnesia was found to have bilateral subdural hematomas. The entity of transient global amnesia, its relationship to structural brain disease, and its possible pathogenesis are ...

Concept Cells and the Neural Bases of Human Memory

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Single‐neuron recordings from the medial temporal lobe of patients undergoing epilepsy surgery have revealed “concept cells” that respond selectively and invariantly to meaningful stimuli such as specific people, places, or objects. These responses offer a unique window into how individual neurons encode high‐level, multimodal representations ...
