Use of fresh amnion as a burn dressing

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery, 1977
Thirty-seven children with second and third degree burns dressed with amnion were compared to seventy-three children treated with Furacin (Eaton Labs, Norwich, N.Y.) dressing. Amnion was found to be as easy to use as Furacin.

Innervation of the amnion

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1968
Abstract With a modified methylene blue immersion technique, a neural plexus has been identified in full-thickness mounts of both human and monkey amnion. It is suggested that this plexus is derived from nerve fibers which run down the cord in Wharton's jelly and then between the chorion and amnion.

Autophagy and endocytosis in the amnion

Journal of Structural Biology, 2008
To search for the origin of nutrition in the amnion, we focused attention on both endocytotic and autophagic pathways. Using ultrastructural and biochemical methods, we examined 20 human amnions at term gestation. The uptake of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was used for the detection of endocytosis.
