Abstract With a modified methylene blue immersion technique, a neural plexus has been identified in full-thickness mounts of both human and monkey amnion. It is suggested that this plexus is derived from nerve fibers which run down the cord in Wharton's jelly and then between the chorion and amnion.

Chorion and amnion/chorion membranes in oral and periodontal surgery: A systematic review.
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research. Part B - Applied biomaterials, 2020The aim of this study was to perform a systematic review on the clinical applications where chorion membrane (CM) and amnion/chorion membrane (ACM) were used for oral tissue regeneration procedures. Selection of articles was carried out by two evaluators

Amnionitis and T strain mycoplasmemia
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1971Abstract A 32-year-old woman was admitted during the seventh month of her first pregnancy which was achieved by insemination with donor semen. A twin pregnancy was diagnosed, and the water bag of one of the fetuses had ruptured spontaneously. The woman was afebrile during 7 days with penicillin-ampicillin treatment.

Abstract A case of amnion nodosum associated with bilateral renal agenesis, multiple bronchial cysts of the lungs, and an absent umbilical artery is reported and other cases from the literature are cited. While there is nothing in the chart referring to the amount of liquor amnii, it is assumed from the radiologic data that there was associated ...

Amnion-on-a-chip: modeling human amniotic development in mid-gestation from pluripotent stem cells.
Lab on a Chip, 2020The amnion serves to create a protective environment for a growing fetus, and the study of amniotic development will greatly facilitate our understanding of normal and abnormal pregnancies.

Ultrasonic demonstration of the amnion.
Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 1982The amnion can be visualized in most pregnancies before the 12th week. It appears as a thin membrane separating the amniotic cavity, which contains the fetus, from the extra-embryonic coelom and the secondary yolk sac. In a prospective study of 32 women in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, the amnion was demonstrated ultrasonographically in 27 (84 per ...

Autophagy and endocytosis in the amnion
Journal of Structural Biology, 2008To search for the origin of nutrition in the amnion, we focused attention on both endocytotic and autophagic pathways. Using ultrastructural and biochemical methods, we examined 20 human amnions at term gestation. The uptake of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was used for the detection of endocytosis.
