Placental Changes in Amniotic Band Sequence, Extra-Amniotic and Extramembranous Pregnancy
Pathology of the Placenta, 2018Three entities, characterized by rupture of the amnion, are described. Amniotic band sequence is a group of congenital abnormalities with a variable spectrum of abnormalities characterized by formation of fibrous bands or sheets from the placenta attaching to fetal structures.

Revisiting Amniotic Band Sequence: A Wide Spectrum of Manifestations
Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy, 2013To describe the spectrum of clinical deformities related to amniotic band sequence (ABS), ranging from mild to severe.Retrospective evaluation of 9 cases of ABS managed during a 4-year period (February 2006 to April 2010) in a tertiary hospital. The median gestational age at prenatal diagnosis was 15 weeks (range 11-26).

Digital-Facial Translocation in Amniotic Band Sequence: Evidence of the Intrinsic Theory
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2018Abstract Amniotic band sequence is a complex congenital anomaly in which infants with typically no known genetic mutation have bands of maternal amniotic tissue wrapped around body parts, most commonly the limbs and digits.

ADAM Sequence and Innocent Amniotic Band: Manifestations of Early Amnion Rupture
American Journal of Medical Genetics, Part A, 1990AbstractThirteen placentas with early amnion rupture (EAR) are described. These placentas were characterized by the absence of amniotic epithelium on the fetal surface, presence of a slightly fibrotic small amniotic band (remnant) attaching to the umbilical cord at the placental end, and the presence of degenerated vernix squamous cells in the fibrous ...

Implications of malformations not due to amniotic bands in the amniotic band sequence
American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1986AbstractIt is widely accepted that the primary event in the amniotic band sequence (ABS) is early rupture of the amnion, and that the development of the fetus is then disrupted by entanglement and abrasion. The mechanism of the initial rupture is unknown.
