Discordant Amniotic Band Sequence in Monozygotic Twins

American Journal of Medical Genetics, Part A, 1985
AbstractMultiple congenital anomalies were identified at 16 weeks gestation in one fetus of an unsuspected twin pregnancy while ultrasound examination was performed before routine genetic amniocentesis. Further sonographic studies documented the amniotic band sequence (ABS) and transient oligohydramnios in the affected fetus.

Amniotic band sequence and its neurocutaneous manifestations

American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1987
AbstractSix new cases of the amniotic band sequence with a wide spectrum of defects were studied with respect to neurocutaneous manifestations, including histopathologic characteristics. Fetuses 1 and 2 were stillborn. Despite severe craniofacial involvement, infants 3 and 4 survived 1 yr and 22 months, respectively.

Prenatal diagnosis of the pronounced form of amniotic band sequence in the I trimester of gestation

, 2020
The case of early prenatal diagnosis of multiple congenital malformations of the fetus caused by amniotic bands is presented. Ultrasound examination at 13 weeks of gestation revealed exencephaly, ectopia of the heart, fixed position of the fetus, short ...

Amniotic band sequence in paternal half‐siblings with vascular Ehlers–Danlos syndrome

American Journal of Medical Genetics. Part A, 2019
Familial amniotic band sequence (ABS) is rare but has been reported in the offspring of mothers with connective tissue disorders. We present a family of two half‐siblings with ABS who share the same biological father. Following a serious vascular event a

Further insights into unusual acrania-exencephaly-anencephaly sequence caused by amniotic band – first trimester fetoscopic correlation with two- and three-dimensional ultrasound

, 2021
Objectives Antenatal detection of acrania-exencephaly-anencephaly (AEA) sequence beyond 10 completed weeks of gestation is usually straight-forward. An earlier detection and classification of the causative conditions prior to disaggregation of exposed ...

Clefting, amniotic bands, and polydactyly: A distinct phenotype that supports an intrinsic mechanism for amniotic band sequence

American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, 2005
AbstractAmniotic band sequence (ABS) is a well‐described condition involving a variety of congenital anomalies in association with fibrous bands. However, many cases are associated with birth defects that are not readily explained by the mechanism of fibrous strings entangling body parts and causing disruption of the fetal structures.

Amniotic Band Sequence: The Use of Bone Grafting and Distraction Osteogenesis

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2004
Distraction has proven to be a useful technique in cases of severe bone deficiency in the craniofacial skeleton. This is a report of its use in the treatment of a child affected by amniotic band sequence. This 5 year old Hispanic female presented with transverse deficiences of one lower extremity and both upper extremities.

Symbrachydactyly: Finger nubbins are not always amniotic band disruption sequence

JAAPA : official journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, 2019
Although congenital hand anomalies associated with finger nubbins may be produced by amniotic band disruption sequence (ABDS), symbrachydactyly should be considered in the differential diagnosis.

Exertional Compartment Syndrome with Amniotic Band Disruption Sequence

JBJS Case Connector, 2016
Cases: We report the cases of two female patients who presented with symptoms of lower-extremity exertional compartment syndrome years after initial amniotic band reconstruction. These patients underwent extensive fascial release for treatment of amniotic band disruption sequence (ABDS) of the lower extremity, with resolution ...
