BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1970SummaryThe volume and biochemical composition of amniotic fluid from early normal pregnancies terminated between 8 and 24 weeks were studied. The volume was measured directly in 27 of 33 cases. There was a small, but steady increase between 8 and 11 weeks. From 11 weeks there was a rapid and almost linear increase to a peak volume at 20 weeks.

Direct spectrophotometric estimation of amniotic fluid volume
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1968Abstract Coomassie's blue was used in the estimation of amniotic fluid volume in 13 patients prior to volumetric measurement at cesarean section. Amniotic fluid volume was calculated by dye dilution, determined by direct spectrophotometric analysis. The optimum time for sampling was found to be 30 minutes after injection.
