Atmosphere drives recent interannual variability of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation at 26.5°N [PDF]
The RAPID-MOCHA array has observed the Atlantic Meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) at 26.5°N since 2004. During 2009/2010, there was a transient 30% weakening of the AMOC driven by anomalies in geostrophic and Ekman transports.

Subtle influence of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) on seasonal sea surface temperature (SST) hindcast skill in the North Atlantic [PDF]
We investigate the impact of the strength of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) at 26∘ N on the prediction of North Atlantic sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTAs) a season ahead.

<p>The South Atlantic is a key gateway for water mass and property exchanges between the Atlantic and other basins, and is thus a crucial place to measure changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC).

Separating Direct Heat Flux Forcing and Freshwater Feedback on AMOC Change Under Global Warming
The Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) is predicted to weaken under global warming. Whether it is caused by heat flux or freshwater flux is under debate. Here we separate these two processes in changing the AMOC under global warming.

An electrical analogy relating the Atlantic multidecadal oscillation to the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation. [PDF]
The Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) is the northward flow of surface water to subpolar latitudes where deepwater is formed, balanced by southward abyssal flow and upwelling in the vicinity of the Southern Ocean.

Asymmetry of AMOC Hysteresis in a State‐Of‐The‐Art Global Climate Model
We study hysteresis properties of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) under a slowly‐varying North Atlantic (20°N–50°N) freshwater flux forcing in state‐of‐the‐art global climate model (GCM), the Community Earth System Model.

Lagrangian View of Atlantic Water Pathways toward the North Sea
The influence of subpolar North Atlantic hydrographic conditions on the North Sea is well recognized, yet the precise pathways taken by Atlantic Water to reach its gateway remain uncertain.

Asymmetry in the effect of North Atlantic sea surface temperature on the eddy‐driven jet
Projections of climate over Europe and the Atlantic are uncertain due to the uncertainty surrounding future changes in North Atlantic sea surface temperatures (SSTs). Here, we demonstrate that warming in the North Atlantic Ocean is linked to a transition to a negative phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation, as well as to an equatorward displacement of
