Genome-wide diversity evaluation and core germplasm extraction in ex situ conservation: A case of golden Camellia tunghinensis. [PDF]
Abstract Whether ex situ populations constructed in the limited nursery resources of botanical gardens can preserve enough genetic diversity of endangered plants in the wild remains uncertain. Here, a case study was conducted with Camellia tunghinensis, which is one of the species with the lowest natural distribution area in the sect.

Genomic insights into differentiation and adaptation of Amorphophallus yunnanensis in the mountainous region of Southwest China. [PDF]
RAD‐seq was used to characterize the geographic pattern of genetic variation among 19 populations of Amorphophallus yunnanensis in the mountainous region of Southwest China. A clear east–west genetic differentiation was revealed, with two distinct genetic lineages corresponding to Guizhou plateau and Yunnan plateau, respectively.

Patterns and drivers of heat production in the plant genus Amorphophallus
SUMMARY Thermogenesis – the ability to generate metabolic heat – is much more common in animals than in plants, but it has been documented in several plant families, most prominently the Araceae. Metabolic heat is produced in floral organs during the flowering time (anthesis), with the hypothesised primary functions being to increase scent ...

Unlocking plant resources to support food security and promote sustainable agriculture
Biodiversity is essential to food security and nutrition locally and globally. By reviewing the global state of edible plants and highlighting key neglected and underutilized species, we attempt to unlock plant food resources and explore the role of fungi, which along with the wealth of traditional knowledge about their uses and practices, could help ...
