Ultralow thermal conductivity of amorphous silicon–germanium thin films for alloy and disorder scattering determined by 3ω method and nanoindentation

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
The ultralow thermal conductivity (1.3 W/(m∙K)) of amorphous silicon–germanium films for alloy and disorder scattering was investigated using the 3 ω method and nanoindentation.

Kinetics of silicon extraction into alloy from a mixture of amorphous rocks

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Metallurgical Systems
Potential technologically effective raw materials for producing silicon-containing ferroalloys are sedimentary rocks – diatomite, opoka, tripoli, in which silica is predominantly in amorphous form.

Lattice thermal conductivity of disordered NiPd and NiPt alloys

open access: yes, 2006
Numerical calculations of lattice thermal conductivity are reported for the binary alloys NiPd and NiPt. The present work is a continuation of an earlier paper by us [PRB, 72, 214207 (2005)]which had developed a theoretical framework for the calculation ...

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Effect of aging temperature on the crystallization characteristics of bulk fe-based amorphous alloys

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
The high hardness performance of Fe-based amorphous alloys give them unique advantages in the field of wear-resistant materials, while the performance degradation after crystallization limits their application range. In this study, rod-shaped bulk Fe _41

Emergent Spin‐Glass Behavior in an Iron(II)‐Based Metal–Organic Framework Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A one‐pot, solvent‐free synthesis yields an Fe2+‐based metal‐organic framework (MOF) glass featuring a continuous random network structure. The material exhibits spin‐glass freezing at 14 K, driven by topological‐disorder and short‐range magnetic frustration, showcasing the potential of MOF glasses as a plattform for cooperative magnetic phenomena in ...

Nanosegregated amorphous AlBN2 alloy

open access: yesPhilosophical Magazine, 2016
AbstractWe use ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to create an amorphous AlBN2 model and find that it consists of nanosegregated two-dimensional hexagonal BN-like and tetrahedral AlN-like domains. These domains are somewhat homogenously distributed in the network. There exist no chemical disorder and Al–B bonding.

Laser‐Based Sculpturing of Embedded Ultrathin Metal‐Oxide Nanopores for Enhanced Biomolecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.
