Properties of amorphous Si:F:H alloys
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1980Previously we have shown that amorphous silicon-based alloys containing F and H (1–7) possess desirable properties for photovoltaic application. Amorphous tetrahedral semiconductors ordinarily possess a very large density of states which act as traps leading to low values for drift mobility and low recombination lifetimes of free carriers.

Hard magnetic bulk amorphous alloys
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1997An amorphous phase in Ln-Fe-Al (Ln=Nd and Pr) systems is formed in wide composition ranges of 0 to 90 at% Fe and 0 to 93 at% Al by melt spinning. Ferromagnetic Ln/sub 90-x/Fe/sub x/Al/sub 10/ bulk amorphous alloys with high coercive force (/sub i/H/sub c/) at room temperature are obtained by copper mold casting.

Superconductivity in amorphous actinide alloys
Physical Review B, 1985Superconductivity has been studied in amorphous binary alloys of actinides containing Co, Fe, and Ni. Amorphous thorium alloys have critical temperatures of up to 3.8 K and electronic properties similar to other transition-metal amorphous alloys. By contrast, amorphous uranium alloys have critical temperatures below 1.0 K and exhibit two unusual ...

Ferromagnetic bulk amorphous alloys
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 1998This article reviews our recent results on the development of ferromagnetic bulk amorphous alloys prepared by casting processes. The multicomponent Fe-(Al,Ga)-(P,C,B,Si) alloys are amorphized in the bulk form with diameters up to 2 mm, and the temperature interval of the supercooled liquid region before crystallization is in the range of 50 to 67 K ...

ABSTRACTAmorphous surface layers produced by bonding metglas ribbons onto steel specimens were tested for their resistance to fretting. Friction and weight loss were determined and the worn surfaces were examined optically. There was no general tendency towards a better wear resistance of the tested amorphous metals as compared to crystallized metals ...
