This study investigates thermo‐chemical processes during high‐temperature testing of two commercial MgO‐C brick grades, one containing 47.5 wt.% MgO‐C recyclate. Using ETV, DTA/TG‐MS, XRD, and SEM/EDS/EBSD, mechanisms such as carbothermal reduction of magnesia, impurity incorporation into the secondary MgO surface layer, and calcium‐rich phase ...

A review of the preparation and prospects of amorphous alloys by mechanical alloying
The preparation of amorphous alloys typically involves rapid solidification from a molten state. Since 1980, when Yermo and Koch first achieved the amorphization of alloys by mechanical alloying (MA), researchers worldwide have developed a strong ...

Assessing Altered Coating Adhesion on Plasma‐Deoxidized Surfaces Under Oxygen‐Free Conditions
This study demonstrates the effectiveness of atmospheric pressure plasma pretreatment in modifying silicon and stainless steel surfaces to improve adhesion. Argon‐hydrogen plasma increases surface roughness and improves adhesion strength, whereas pure argon results in smoother surfaces and structural changes.

Electrical Resistance and Magnetoresistance of Amorphous Metallic Alloys Based on Iron and Cobalt
Salient features of the electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance of the Fe-, Co- and Ni-based amorphous metallic alloys are considered. The analysis of theoretical approaches to the description of scattering mechanisms in these systems is performed ...

Amorphous metallizations for high-temperature semiconductor device applications [PDF]
The initial results of work on a class of semiconductor metallizations which appear to hold promise as primary metallizations and diffusion barriers for high temperature device applications are presented. These metallizations consist of sputter-deposited

Superconductivity and short range order in metallic glasses Fe$_{x}$Ni$_{1-x}$Zr$_{2}$
In amorphous superconductors, superconducting and vortex pinning properties are strongly linked to the absence of long range order. Consequently, superconductivity and vortex phases can be studied to probe the underlying microstructure and order of the ...

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Pair-breaking quantum phase transition in superconducting nanowires
A quantum phase transition (QPT) between distinct ground states of matter is a wide-spread phenomenon in nature, yet there are only a few experimentally accessible systems where the microscopic mechanism of the transition can be tested and understood ...
