Amorphous metallizations for high-temperature semiconductor device applications [PDF]

open access: yes
The initial results of work on a class of semiconductor metallizations which appear to hold promise as primary metallizations and diffusion barriers for high temperature device applications are presented. These metallizations consist of sputter-deposited

Amorphous Substrate‐Supported Single‐Atom Catalysts: Design Strategies, Electronic Regulation, and Catalytic Applications

open access: yesSmall Structures
Single‐atom catalysts (SACs) represent a frontier in catalysis, yet their stability and activity are critically dependent on the choice of support material. Recently, amorphous materials have emerged as an ideal platform for hosting SACs, thanks to their

Tannin surges increase metal oxide loss and potentially destabilize soil aggregates

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The unclear mechanisms of interaction between plant-derived tannins and soil metal oxides (Al, Fe, Mn), especially in tannin-rich ecosystems like eucalyptus plantations, hinder accurate predictions of long-term soil health under continuous tannin ...

Low-bias electron transport properties of germanium telluride ultrathin films

open access: yes, 2013
The nanometer-scale size-dependent electronic transport properties of crystalline (c-) and amorphous (a-) germanium telluride (GeTe) ultrathin films sandwiched by titanium nitride (TiN) electrodes are investigated using ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD)

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.
