Volt-ampere meters

Journal of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1923
THE point is well known and generally accepted that many things can be done which do not become general practise until the economics governing the practise show that the difference between “cost of doing” and “earnings through doing” is on the proper side of the balance sheet.

A Determination of the Ampere

Metrologia, 1965
The ampere has been determined by means of the Ayrton-Jones current balance of the National Physical Laboratory. The result shows that the unit of current maintained at the Laboratory by standard resistors and standard cells exceeds the ampere by 15 in 106, with a probable error of 4 in 106.

A 400-ampere sealed ignitron

Electrical Engineering, 1946
As rectifier capacity is increased, it becomes desirable to use larger capacity rectifying elements. The choice of rectifying element size requires careful consideration in order to provide a complete range with a minimum number of units. The sizes of industrial ignitron tubes for welding control and for rectifier service have been chosen on a ...

A 7,000-ampere station bus

Electrical Engineering, 1934
Inductive heating and space limitations complicated the problem of redesigning a 4,000-amp bus to carry 7,000 amp, without structural changes in existing cells and runways. A general discussion of the unusual problems involved is given in this paper, together with the methods of solution and supporting test results.
