Invertible Amphiphilic Homopolymers
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004Stimuli-responsive polymers and assemblies are viable candidates for the so-called "smart" materials. In this communication, we report a new class of amphiphilic homopolymers that forms micelle-like structures in polar solvents and inverted micelle-like structures in apolar solvents.

Evolution of Supra-Amphiphiles from Amphiphiles
2017Molecular amphiphiles are molecules that carry both a hydrophilic part and a hydrophobic part, linked by covalent bonds. In contrast with molecular amphiphiles, supramolecular amphiphiles (or supra-amphiphiles) are amphiphiles that are formed on the basis of noncovalent interactions.

Amphiphilic cyclodextrin nanoparticles
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2017Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides obtained by enzymatic digestion of starch. The α-, β- and γ- cyclodextrins contain respectively 6, 7 and 8 glucopyranose units, with primary and secondary hydroxyl groups located on the narrow and wider rims of a truncated cone shape structure.

Amphiphilic Bistable Rotaxanes
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2003AbstractTwo molecular shuttles/switches—a slow one and a fast one—in the shape of amphiphilic, bistable [2]rotaxanes have been synthesized and characterized. Both [2]rotaxanes contain a hydrophobic, tetraarylmethane and a hydrophilic, dendritic stopper.

Ionic Amphiphilic Metallomesogens
Chemistry of Materials, 1995Synthetic and structural studies on the silver derivatives [Ag(1)]X (X = CF3SO3 (2) or PF6 (3) wherein 1 = 1,10-bis[4-(dodecyloxy)benzoyl]-1,10-diaza-4,7,13,16-tetrathiacyclooctadecane) are reported. The complexes were found to display thermotropic and lyotropic mesomorphism.

Abstract Lyotropic liquid crystals may be formed mixing amphiphilic molecules and a solvent. The stabilization of this state of matter depends on the relative concentrations of the different components of the mixture and the temperature. The electrostatic interaction between molecules, or even parts of the molecules, is the driving force

The amphiphillic character, that is, the capacity to simultaneously attract and repel water, has been traditionally reserved to organic molecules such as phospholipids and surfactants, containing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups within the same molecule.
