Amplifying on the PCR Amplifier
2010Kary Mullis is not a theorist, but is a chemist who won the 1993 Nobel Prize for inventing the PCR method—which is an amplifier for DNA. He is also an alumnus of Georgia Tech, where I am these days. Mullis is famous, perhaps our most famous graduate, but he does have a quirky personality. Perhaps to create a brilliant idea like PCR took such a thinker.
