MISO Amplify Forward scheme and its viability
2012 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC), 2012In this paper, we consider a MISO equivalent of a three node cooperative communication system as described in [1] and compare its energy efficiency with a pure relaying scheme. Specifically, we first quantify the transmit energy required to maintain a target error probability at the destination in an Amplify Forward (AF) based MISO scheme.

Performance of Untrusted Amplify-and-Forward Relaying
2013 4th International Conference on Intelligent Systems, Modelling and Simulation, 2013In this paper, we analyze the secrecy outage performance of amplify-and-forward (AF)-based relay networks consisting of a source, a destination, and an untrusted relay, where each terminal has a single antenna and operates in a half-duplex mode. In this network, the common message is transmitted through the relay-path, and the private message is ...

Relay-Aided Amplify-and-Forward Powerline Communications
IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2013Powerline communications (PLC) is a favorable technique for many smart grid applications. By transmitting information over the existing powerline infrastructure, PLC has the benefit of low deployment cost. However, due to low transmit power, limited bandwidth, and harsh channel conditions, reliable long-distance and high-capacity PLC is challenging ...

Amplify-Forward and Decode-Forward: The Impact of Location and Capacity Contour
MILCOM 2005 - 2005 IEEE Military Communications Conference, 2006Successful message relay, or the quality of the inter-user channel, is critical to fully realize the cooperative benefits promised by the theory. This in turn points out the importance of the relative location of the users. This paper investigates the impact of the location on the system capacity and outage probability for both amplify-forward (AF) and

Energy Efficiency of Cooperative SIMO Schemes -Amplify Forward and Decode Forward
2009 Proceedings of 18th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks, 2009In this paper, we quantify and compare the en- ergy efficiency of Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and- Forward (DF) schemes on a basic three node cooperative network. Total energy is calculated considering circuit energy as well as transmission energy.

An Amplify-and-Forward architecture for low spectral efficiencies
2009 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009This paper proposes a simple architecture for half-duplex cooperative systems which use Amplify-and-Forward (AF) as a relay strategy and one-dimensional modulations for source messages. The proposed solution uses the two orthogonal channels of quadrature modulation in order to allow a node to behave simultaneously as a source and a relay. We prove that

Non-orthogonal Amplify-and-Forward for block-fading channels
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2008In this paper, we deal with the amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative strategy in slot-based block-fading environments. In contrast with previous schemes which assume a constant channel during the cooperative frame (several slots), here, we relax this constraint and assume a classical quasi-static block-fading channel (constant for one slot).

Flexible Amplify and Forward Relaying Protocol with Optimized Duplexing
VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009In this paper we propose a novel flexible amplify and forward (AF) relaying protocol with different duplexing ratios. We show that the average throughput can be considerably improved by properly adjusting the duplex ratio. Here it is considered that the transmitted and received channel state information (CSI) are available at the relay.

Energy efficiency contours for amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward cooperative protocols
2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012In this paper we compare the energy efficiency of different cooperative schemes by means of energy efficiency contours. We consider a three-nodes cooperative scenario, employing either the amplify-and-forward (AF) or the decode-and-forward (DF) protocol.

Subcarrier pairing for amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward OFDM relay links
IEEE Communications Letters, 2009We consider a two-hop relay link in which orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used on both hops. Under a joint sum-power constraint, our aim is to allocate power over subcarriers on the two hops such that the instantaneous rate of the relay link is maximized.
