Flexible Amplify and Forward Relaying Protocol with Optimized Duplexing

VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
In this paper we propose a novel flexible amplify and forward (AF) relaying protocol with different duplexing ratios. We show that the average throughput can be considerably improved by properly adjusting the duplex ratio. Here it is considered that the transmitted and received channel state information (CSI) are available at the relay.

Energy efficiency contours for amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward cooperative protocols

2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012
In this paper we compare the energy efficiency of different cooperative schemes by means of energy efficiency contours. We consider a three-nodes cooperative scenario, employing either the amplify-and-forward (AF) or the decode-and-forward (DF) protocol.

Subcarrier pairing for amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward OFDM relay links

IEEE Communications Letters, 2009
We consider a two-hop relay link in which orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used on both hops. Under a joint sum-power constraint, our aim is to allocate power over subcarriers on the two hops such that the instantaneous rate of the relay link is maximized.

Performance of Amplify-and-Forward and Decode-and-Forward Relays in LTE-Advanced

2009 IEEE 70th Vehicular Technology Conference Fall, 2009
Current broadband wireless networks are characterized by large cell sizes. Yet, even in advanced networks, users on the cell edge will face relatively low Signal-to- Interference-plus-Noise-Ratio (SINR). An attractive solution for this problem is provided by multi-hop technologies.

Physical Layer Security of an Amplify-and-Forward Energy Harvesting-Based Mixed RF/UOW System

International Conference on Advanced Communication Technologies and Networking, 2019
This paper investigates the secrecy outage performance of an energy harvesting-based dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) mixed radio-frequency/underwater optical wireless communication (RF/UOWC) system.

Robust Power Allocation for Amplify-and-Forward Relay Networks

2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
Relay power allocation has been shown to provide substantial performance gain in wireless relay networks when perfect global channel state information (CSI) is available. In this paper, we consider a more realistic scenario, where such global CSI is subject to uncertainty, and we aim to design robust power allocation protocols for both the coherent and

Proactive Monitoring via Jamming in Amplify-and-Forward Relay Networks

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2017
To legitimately monitor suspicious wireless communications is an important issue. In this letter, we propose a proactive monitoring via jamming scheme over an amplify-and-forward relay network, which consists of a legitimate monitor, a suspicious source,

Is amplify-and-forward practically better than decode-and-forward or vice versa?

Proceedings. (ICASSP '05). IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005., 2006
The paper evaluates the relative merits of amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF), the two basic modes of cooperative communications, in practical systems. Specifically, the paper considers the case where the two user channels are slow fading with similar channel qualities and the inter-user channel is some 10 dB better.

Path Selection with Amplify and Forward Relays in mmWave Backhaul Networks

IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2018
This paper focuses on the problem of path selection with amplify-and-forward (AF) relays for long-range ultra-high-speed millimeter wave (mmWave) backhaul networks in urban environments.

Hybrid Analog-Digital Transceiver Designs for mmWave Amplify-and-Forward Relaying Systems

International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing, 2018
Hybrid Analog/Digital (A/D) pre-/post-coding solutions aim at the reduction of the hardware complexity and power consumption of a system employed with a large-scale antenna array functioning in the millimeter (mmWave) band.
