Feedback Amplitude Modulation Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2010
A recently rediscovered sound synthesis method, which is based on feedback amplitude modulation (FBAM), is investigated. The FBAM system is interpreted as a periodically linear time-varying digital filter, and its stability, aliasing, and scaling properties are considered.

HARTLEY AMPLITUDE MODULATION

open access: yesSworld-Us Conference proceedings, 2023
A new type of modulation has been developed - Hartley amplitude modulation(AMH), which is distinguished by the presence of two orthogonal components of the amplitude- modulated signal, which allows increasing the efficiency of AMX up to 90 ...

Amplitude Modulation and Loudness in Cochlear Implantees [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, 2009
The effect of amplitude modulation of pulse trains on the loudness perceived by cochlear implantees was investigated for different overall levels of the signal, modulation depth and the carrier rate of the pulse train. Equally loud and threshold levels were determined for a variety of signal levels, modulation depths and carrier rates in six cochlear ...

Amplitude-modulated interferometry

Optics Letters, 1990
Specific modulating procedures of the interfering amplitudes in a double-beam interferometer lead to highprecision measurements and insensitivity to changes in reflectivity. The performance of such an interferometer is superior to that of a phase-shifting interferometer because the modulated quantity is the amplitude rather than the phase, which is the

Periodic amplitude modulation of EEG

Neuroscience Letters, 1992
Time variation of the EEG spectral parameters was analyzed during a 10 min resting period in 40 healthy subjects. Spectral band powers over the theta and alpha bands were calculated for each non-overlapping 2.5 s long EEG segment. The time variation of the band powers was further analyzed by computing the power spectra.

Amplitude-modulated laser imager

Applied Optics, 2004
Laser systems have been developed to image underwater objects. However, the performance of these systems can be severely degraded in turbid water. We have developed a technique using modulated light to improve underwater detection and imaging. A program, Modulated Vision System (MVS), which is based on a new theoretical approach, has been developed to ...

A micropower amplitude modulator

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1971
Amplitude modulation using micropower transistors is often required for many applications in communications and instrumentation. A micropower current-gain block with its h FE stabilized over several I C decades can be used with additional circuitry for this purpose. This letter describes such a modulator and its operating characteristics.

Light-amplitude modulator

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1987
An investigation was made of the dispersion characteristics of mercury-coated planar waveguides. The use of a metal coating as a mode analyzer was more effective in the near infrared range. A liquid mercury coating differed from the usual evaporated metal film because of a considerable reduction in the rate of losses that would occur in the case of an ...

Triangular Quadrature Amplitude Modulation

IEEE Communications Letters, 2007
The square quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) has been widely used for decades. Though it is not optimum in the sense of power efficiency, simple detection makes it in use for numerous digital communication systems deploying high-order modulation. In this paper, we propose new signal sets which make an effective use of limited power resource.
