Speech enhancement using a minimum mean-square error log-spectral amplitude estimator
IEEE Transactions on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1984In this correspondence we derive a short-time spectral amplitude (STSA) estimator for speech signals which minimizes the mean-square error of the log-spectra (i.e., the original STSA and its estimator) and examine it in enhancing noisy speech.

Amplitude-smoothed BPOF and amplitude-smoothed amplitude-encoded BPOF
SPIE Proceedings, 1990In this paper smoothed binary phaseonly filtcr(ASBPOF) and amplitude smoothed amplitude encoded BPOF(ASAEBPOF) are presented. By computer simulation in the case of symmetrical and unsymmetrical characters it is concluded that with the BPOF and AEBPOF these filters sacrifice light efficiency due to the amplitudesmoothed factor it yield much better ...

Speech Enhancement Using a-Minimum Mean-Square Error Short-Time Spectral Amplitude Estimator
Absstroct-This paper focuses on the class of speech enhancement systems which capitalize on the major importance of the short-time spectral amplitude (STSA) of the speech signal in its perception. A system which utilizes a minimum mean-square error (MMSE)

Amplitude density of a finite amplitude wave
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979A theoretical analysis of the effect of nonlinear propagation distortion on the amplitude density of a sample noise signal in a lossless medium is given. It is found that under certain general conditions the amplitude density prior to shock formation is unaffected by the distortion.

A stochastic framework for quantum mechanics is presented in which the elements are measurements and amplitudes. The resulting structure provides three stochastic levels. At the bottom level are the sample points. These may be unobservable, in general. At the next level are the outcomes of measurements.

Amplitude-only versus amplitude-phase estimation
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1990The feasibility of transfer function estimation based on amplitude-only measurements is investigated, and this method is compared with the amplitude-phase (full complex spectrum) method. It is shown that the amplitude-only-based method is a feasible alternative to the full complex spectrum method when the minimum in-phase transfer function of the ...
