PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Study of a Welding Pool Harmonic Oscillations Influence on the Welded Metal Hardness and Weld Bead Width

open access: yesЖурнал інженерних наук, 2019
The comparison results of the hardness measuring of welded metal and the heat-affected zone of the eight welded beads from low-carbon steel obtained by surfacing CO2/MAG with welding bath oscillation influence at values of amplitude equaled 0.5 mm ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Iterative amplitude/phase multiple-symbol differential sphere detection for DAPSK modulated transmissions

open access: yes, 2012
Differentially encoded and non-coherently detected transceivers exhibit a low complexity, since they dispense with complex channel estimation. Albeit this is achieved at the cost of requiring an increased transmit power, they are particularly beneficial,

Dual picosecond fast tunable optical parametric amplifier laser system for wide-field nonlinear optical microscopy

open access: yesAPL Photonics
In the last decades, nonlinear optical microscopy techniques, such as two-Photon Excited Fluorescence (2PEF), Sum Frequency Generation (SFG), and Hyperspectral Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering (H-CARS) microscopy, emerged as powerful tools to image ...

Physical Simulation of Ultrasonic Imaging Logging Response

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Ultrasonic imaging logging can visually identify the location, shape, dip angle and orientation of fractures and holes. The method has not been effectively applied in the field; one of the prime reasons is that the results of physical simulation ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
