Wearable Battery‐Powered Transmitter and Receiver for Path Loss Measurement of Capacitive HBC Channel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, EarlyView.
This paper presents the design of a wearable battery‐powered capacitive coupling‐human body communication (CC‐HBC) transmitter–receiver allowing a realistic power path loss estimation. The influence on the power path loss of the inter‐electrode distance, body constitution, posture, electrode‐skin contact pressure, and transmission frequency (21 and 42 ...

Impedance Modeling and Analysis of PV Inverters Considering Fractional‐Order Characteristics of Elements

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, EarlyView.
This manuscript finds that the previous impedance modeling and stability analysis methods for photovoltaic inverters have not yet considered the fractional‐order characteristics of the elements; in order to make up for the blank in this research field, this paper carried out relevant work.

Non‐Markovian Quantum Kinetic Simulations of Uniform Dense Plasmas: Mitigating the Aliasing Problem

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dense quantum plasmas out of equilibrium are successfully modeled using quantum kinetic equations, such as the quantum Boltzmann, Landau, or Balescu–Lenard equation. However, these equations do not properly take into account correlation effects, which require the use of generalized non‐Markovian kinetic equations.

Ground vibration isolation using mass scatters: A comparative study with trench barriers and wave‐impeding blocks

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Ground‐borne vibrations are a frequent source of environmental problems. A full‐scale experiment is conducted to validate a 3D numerical model in order to analyze the efficiency of three methods of isolation. Trench barriers and wave‐impeding blocks are impractical and expensive methods of isolation, but mass scatters appear to be an efficient ...

Blasting effects of cross‐fault deep‐buried excavation on adjacent existing tunnel stability

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on the theoretical analysis of cylindrical wave propagation in a deep rock mass in the fault with a filling layer, the calculation method of peak particle velocity caused by wave propagation in the existing tunnel is established. The viscoelastic characteristics of a rock mass are examined in the analysis.

Seismic Design of Steel Chevron and Split‐X Concentrically Braced Frames

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper aims to (1) investigate how various design parameters affect seismic response of steel chevron and split‐X braced frames, (2) advance understanding of their seismic behaviour and (3) propose new system‐specific guidelines for accurately estimating their seismic demands and for achieving enhanced seismic performance.

Experimental Characterization of a Full‐Scale Stair System Detailed to Achieve Seismic Resiliency

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stair systems are the primary means of egress in and out of a building during and after an earthquake. Therefore, it is essential to detail these critical nonstructural systems such that they remain operable during and after an earthquake of moderate to high levels of intensity.
