Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Amplitude and frequency encoding result in qualitatively distinct informational landscapes in cell signaling

open access: yesScientific Reports
Cells continuously sense their surroundings to detect modifications and generate responses. Very often changes in extracellular concentrations initiate signaling cascades that eventually result in changes in gene expression. Increasing stimulus strengths

Polarized Amplitude Time Spiral Encoding for Infant Cry Audio Augmentation and CNN Classification

open access: yesJournal of Innovation Information Technology and Application
Recognizing infant cries is essential for healthcare, yet conventional representations such as spectrograms and MFCC often fail to capture temporal dynamics, limiting classification performance.

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Effect of digital noise reduction processing on subcortical speech encoding and relationship to behavioral outcomes

open access: yesScientific Reports
Perceptual benefits from digital noise reduction (NR) vary among individuals with different noise tolerance and sensitivity to distortions introduced in NR-processed speech; however, the physiological bases of the variance are understudied.

Elastomeric Micro‐Balloons for Remote Control of Cerebral Blood Flow and Real‐Time In vivo Imaging of Rodent Brain Response to Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of MRI‐compatible elastomeric micro‐balloons via a multi‐step bubble casting process, where the monolithic elastomeric wall is selectively stiffened for reversible and controlled inflation and elasticity, depending on the target vessels for graded occlusion of cerebral arteries.

Fast Quantum Amplitude Encoding of Typical Classical Data

open access: yes
We present an improved version of a quantum amplitude encoding scheme that encodes the $N$ entries of a unit classical vector $\vec{v}=(v_1,..,v_N)$ into the amplitudes of a quantum state. Our approach has a quadratic speed-up with respect to the original one.

Freeform Manufacturing of Plant‐Based Structural Colors for Scalable Photonic and Mechanochromic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A green, freeform manufacturing approach that utilizes robust aqueous two‐phase systems to create intricate and scalable photonic structures and non‐planar mechanochromic hydrogel actuators from plant‐based hydroxypropyl cellulose. This approach broadens the structural possibilities of sustainable photonic devices and mechanochromic systems, offering ...
