Likelihood equations and scattering amplitudes [PDF]
We relate scattering amplitudes in particle physics to maximum likelihood estimation for discrete models in algebraic statistics. The scattering potential plays the role of the log-likelihood function, and its critical points are solutions to rational function equations.

Numerical study on diverging probability density function of flat-top solitons in an extended Korteweg-de Vries equation [PDF]
We consider an extended Korteweg-de Vries (eKdV) equation, the usual Korteweg-de Vries equation with inclusion of an additional cubic nonlinearity. We investigate the statistical behaviour of flat-top solitary waves described by an eKdV equation in the ...

Amplitude Equations and Chemical Reaction–Diffusion Systems [PDF]
The paper discusses the use of amplitude equations to describe the spatio-temporal dynamics of a chemical reaction–diffusion system based on an Oregonator model of the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction. Sufficiently close to a supercritical Hopf bifurcation the reaction–diffusion equation can be approximated by a complex Ginzburg–Landau equation with ...

Solitonic interactions for Rossby waves with the influence of Coriolis parameters
In the current study, the Rossby waves envelope near the equator is studied starting from a potential vorticity equation with the horizontal component of Coriolis parameter.

Nonequilibrium corrections to energy spectra of massive particles in expanding universe [PDF]
Deviations from kinetic equilibrium of massive particles caused by the universe expansion are calculated analytically in the Boltzmann approximation. For the case of an energy independent amplitude of elastic scattering, an exact partial differential ...

The Korteweg-de Vries equation and water waves. Part 2. Comparison with experiments [PDF]
The Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation is tested experimentally as a model for moderate amplitude waves propagating in one direction in relatively shallow water of uniform depth. For a wide range of initial data, comparisons are made between the asymptotic

Four-phase patterns in forced oscillatory systems [PDF]
We investigate pattern formation in self-oscillating systems forced by an external periodic perturbation. Experimental observations and numerical studies of reaction-diffusion systems and an analysis of an amplitude equation are presented.

The spatial dynamics of a zebrafish model with cross-diffusions
This paper investigates the spatial dynamics of a zebrafish model with cross-diffusions. Sufficient conditions for Hopf bifurcation and Turing bifurcation are obtained by analyzing the associated characteristic equation.
