Increasing power-law range in avalanche amplitude and energy distributions
Power-law type probability density functions spanning several orders of magnitude are found for different avalanche properties. We propose a methodology to overcome empirical constrains that limit the power-law range for the distributions of different ...

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Atomic‐Scale Light Coupling Control in Ultrathin Photonic Membranes
Ultrathin photonic nanomembranes provide atomic‐scale control over the coupling between incident light and high‐Q photonic modes, enabling angstrom‐level resonance tuning and strong field confinement. When integrated with TMD monolayers, they further yield enhanced light–matter interactions, offering a versatile platform for advancing quantum photonics,

Effect of sampling rate and record length on the determination of stability and control derivatives [PDF]
Flight data from five aircraft were used to assess the effects of sampling rate and record length reductions on estimates of stability and control derivatives produced by a maximum likelihood estimation method.

Gravitational waves from hyperbolic encounters
The emission of gravitational waves from a system of massive objects interacting on hyperbolic orbits is studied in the quadrupole approximation. Analytic expressions are derived for the gravitational radiation luminosity, the total energy output and the

Cardiac‐Derived ECM Microspheres for Enhanced hiPSC‐CMs Maturation
Cardiac extracellular matrix microspheres derived from decellularized porcine heart provide a biomimetic 3D microenvironment for human induced pluripotent stem cell–derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC‐CMs). This platform supports short‐ and long‐term culture, enhances structural organization, and promotes electrophysiological and functional maturation of ...

Multichannel Direction-Independent Speech Enhancement Using Spectral Amplitude Estimation
This paper introduces two short-time spectral amplitude estimators for speech enhancement with multiple microphones. Based on joint Gaussian models of speech and noise Fourier coefficients, the clean speech amplitudes are estimated with respect to the ...

Low-depth Amplitude Estimation without Really Trying
Standard quantum amplitude estimation algorithms provide quadratic speedup to Monte-Carlo simulations but require a circuit depth that scales as inverse of the estimation error. In view of the shallow depth in near-term devices, the precision achieved by these algorithms would be low.
