Modulation interference in detection and discrimination of amplitude modulation
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989Two experiments were conducted to assess the effect of the rate of sinusoidal amplitude modulation (SAM) of a masker tone on detection of SAM of a probe tone (experiment 1) or on SAM-rate discrimination for the probe tone (experiment 2). When modulated at the same rate as the probe, the masker interfered with both the detection of probe modulation and ...

Amplitude-modulated interferometry
Optics Letters, 1990Specific modulating procedures of the interfering amplitudes in a double-beam interferometer lead to highprecision measurements and insensitivity to changes in reflectivity. The performance of such an interferometer is superior to that of a phase-shifting interferometer because the modulated quantity is the amplitude rather than the phase, which is the

Periodic amplitude modulation of EEG
Neuroscience Letters, 1992Time variation of the EEG spectral parameters was analyzed during a 10 min resting period in 40 healthy subjects. Spectral band powers over the theta and alpha bands were calculated for each non-overlapping 2.5 s long EEG segment. The time variation of the band powers was further analyzed by computing the power spectra.

Amplitude-modulated laser imager
Applied Optics, 2004Laser systems have been developed to image underwater objects. However, the performance of these systems can be severely degraded in turbid water. We have developed a technique using modulated light to improve underwater detection and imaging. A program, Modulated Vision System (MVS), which is based on a new theoretical approach, has been developed to ...

Triangular Quadrature Amplitude Modulation
IEEE Communications Letters, 2007The square quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) has been widely used for decades. Though it is not optimum in the sense of power efficiency, simple detection makes it in use for numerous digital communication systems deploying high-order modulation. In this paper, we propose new signal sets which make an effective use of limited power resource.

A micropower amplitude modulator
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1971Amplitude modulation using micropower transistors is often required for many applications in communications and instrumentation. A micropower current-gain block with its h FE stabilized over several I C decades can be used with additional circuitry for this purpose. This letter describes such a modulator and its operating characteristics.

An investigation was made of the dispersion characteristics of mercury-coated planar waveguides. The use of a metal coating as a mode analyzer was more effective in the near infrared range. A liquid mercury coating differed from the usual evaporated metal film because of a considerable reduction in the rate of losses that would occur in the case of an ...

Frequency and Amplitude Modulation Audiometry
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1958As a member of a committee of the State of South Australia to discover cases of hearing loss in children up to age 16 in the State, I visited the audiology clinic of Professor Henk C. Huizing in The Netherlands. His method of testing babies and young infants was so impressive and simple that a similar apparatus was constructed for the Deafness Guidance

Quadrature Amplitude Modulation
2019The Quadrature Modulation Scheme (QUAM) uses sine and cosine orthogonality properties to allow the transmission of two different signals in the same carrier, which occupies a bandwidth that is equivalent to the AM signal. The QUAM modulator can be assembled using two DSB-SC modulators.
