Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.

Amplitude of Accommodation in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Current Eye Research, 2019Purpose: To evaluate the effect of multiple sclerosis (MS) on the amplitude of accommodation (AA) and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness.Materials and Methods: A total of 25 MS patients with visual-evoked potential (VEP) abnormalities (MS/+VEP Group), 25 MS patients without VEP abnormalities (MS/-VEP Group), and 25 controls (Control Group) were

Amplitude of Accommodation in Schoolchildren
Current Eye Research, 2016Hofstetter's equations are based on studies of Amplitude of Accommodation (AA) with methodological limitations, particularly in the case of children younger than 10 years of age. The aim of this study is to evaluate AA by age, gender, economic status, and time of day as well as accommodative insufficiency prevalence.A cross-sectional study was ...

MEASUREMENT OF ACCOMMODATIVE AMPLITUDE IN AMBLYOPIA
Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 1982Abstract Monocular accommodative amplitudes were measured in amblyopic individuals by the subjective minus lens push‐up techniques and by the objective dynamic retinoscopy. Accommodative amplitudes were always reduced in amblyopic eyes using the minus lens and retinoscopy techniques, but not with the push‐up ...

Is Accommodative Amplitude Correlated with Lens Fluorescence?
Optometry and Vision Science, 1990ABSTRACT We found a correlation between accommodative amplitude and lens fluorescence in a small population of subjects of nearly the same age. This supports the hypothesis that aging changes of the lens, including presbyopia, are related to lens growth.
