Functional anatomy of male copulatory organs of Pomacea canaliculata (Caenogastropoda, Ampullariidae)

open access: yesZoomorphology, 2012
This study was aimed to investigate the functional morphology of copulation and sperm transfer in the invasive snail Pomacea canaliculata. Three-dimensional renderings of the male copulatory apparatus were made and showed elaborate systems for innervation and for hemolymph supply and drainage.

Temperature effects on Florida applesnail activity: implications for snail kite foraging success and distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The endangered Florida snail kite (Rostrhamlls sociaiJilis) feeds exclusively on applesnails (Pomacea pailiclosa), yet we lack direct observations that link applesnail behavior to snail kite foraging success.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the apple snailPomacea diffusa(Gastropoda, Ampullariidae) with phylogenetic consideration [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA Part B, 2017
We present the complete mitochondrial genome of Pomacea diffusa in this study. The results show that the mitochondrial genome is 16,640 bp in length, which is comprised of 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, and 21 tRNA genes. The nucleotide compositions of the light strand are 39.62% of A, 30.13% of T, 16.02% of C, and 14.24% of G.

Population fluctuation and dispersion patterns of apple snails, Pomacea spp. (Gastropoda: Ampullariidae) in a rice ecosystem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A field study was conducted for two consecutive rice-growing seasons from August, 2013 to May, 2014 to understand the population dynamics of exotic apple snails, Pomacea spp. (Ampullariidae), as affected by ambient weather and aquatic weeds.
