Archives of Surgery, 1946THE CAUSE of painful and traumatic neuromas is not clearly understood. The investigation reported in this paper has been undertaken with the hope of determining whether or not the various methods of dealing with the divided nerve ends influence their occurrence or prevention.

Traumatic Partial Foot Amputation
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1984Twenty patients in whom partial foot amputation had been performed following trauma were evaluated for successful retention of the foot. Of ten transverse stumps, only three partial feet were retained. Failure was related to poor terminal coverage from skin grafts and to equinus deformity.

Traumatic (amputation) neuroma
American Journal of Orthodontics and Oral Surgery, 1939Abstract A case is presented of an amputation neuroma of the mental nerve, that had caused reflex neuralgia. The pathology of the neuroma is discussed. The possibility of unsuspected neuromas following dental surgical procedures, which may be the cause of obscure pain, is considered. A technique is suggested for preventing the recurrence of a neuroma
