Isozymes of Salivary Amylase

Nature, 1964
IT has previously been observed that crystalline salivary amylase gives two peaks in free electrophoresis1. The work recorded here shows that a sample of salivary amylase crystallized three times, which gave a single peak in the ultracentrifuge (Fig. 1), could be separated into four bands by disk electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel2 (Fig. 2).

Amylase isoenzymes in mumps

European Journal of Pediatrics, 1979
The amylase isoenzymes activities in serum and urine from 75 children treated for complications of mumps were evaluated. The clinical observations, especially in cases with suspected pancreatitis, were compared with the P- and S-type amylase activities.

On human serum amylase

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1966
Abstract Human serum amylase was studied by agar gel electrophoresis and quantitative immunoelectrophoresis. Two fractions having slightly different β2-γ mobilities were found in normal sera. No isoenzyme type of association or binding with normally precipitating immunoelectrophoretic fractions were found.
