Transdermal drug delivery in horses: An in vitro comparison of skin structure and permeation of two model drugs at various anatomical sites

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 34, Issue 3, Page 235-245, June 2023., 2023
Background – Oral and parenteral drug delivery in horses can be difficult. Equine‐specific transdermal drug formulations offer improved ease of treatment; development of such formulations requires a deeper understanding of the structural and chemical tissue barrier of horse skin. Hypothesis/Objectives – To compare the structural composition and barrier

A Solvent‐free Strategy to Prepare Amorphous Salts of Folic Acid with Enhanced Solubility and Cell Permeability

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 2, Issue 6, June 2022., 2022
Eight new amorphous salts of folic acid (FA) were prepared by mechanochemistry, a green method. The solubility and octanol‐water partition coefficient (cell permeability) of FA were remarkably improved with no toxic effect, making them good candidates for pharmaceutical/nutraceutical applications.

Contributions of the international plant science community to the fight against infectious diseases in humans—part 2: Affordable drugs in edible plants for endemic and re‐emerging diseases

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 19, Issue 10, Page 1921-1936, October 2021., 2021
Summary The fight against infectious diseases often focuses on epidemics and pandemics, which demand urgent resources and command attention from the health authorities and media. However, the vast majority of deaths caused by infectious diseases occur in endemic zones, particularly in developing countries, placing a disproportionate burden on ...

Local knowledge, know‐how and knowledge mobilized in a globalized world: A new approach of indigenous local ecological knowledge

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 2, Issue 3, Page 527-543, September 2020., 2020
Abstract More than 30 years after the 1988 Declaration of Belém, which we can consider an important outcome of socio‐environmental movements, this reflexive paper proposes new ways of approaching indigenous local knowledge (ILK) related to the living environment and understanding its relevance in times of global socio‐environmental crisis. Drawing upon

A combined physiological and biophysical approach to understand the ligand‐dependent efficiency of 3‐hydroxy‐4‐pyridinone Fe‐chelates

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 4, Issue 8, August 2020., 2020
Abstract Ligands of the 3‐hydroxy‐4‐pyridinone (3,4‐HPO) class were considered eligible to formulate new Fe fertilizers for Iron Deficiency Chlorosis (IDC). Soybean (Glycine max L.) plants grown in hydroponic conditions and supplemented with Fe‐chelate [Fe(mpp)3] were significantly greener, had increased biomass, and were able to translocate more iron ...
