U.S. Sweetener Demand Analysis: A QUAIDS Model Application

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2016
We estimate the expenditure, price, and Engel parameters for the major U.S. caloric sweeteners (sugar, high-fructose corn syrup [HFCS], and glucose), for the 1975Ð2013 period using the quadratic almost ideal demand system (QUAIDS).

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

DEMAND ESTIMATES FOR AGRICULTURAL, MANUFACTURING AND SERVICE PRODUCTS [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه پژوهش‌های اقتصادی ایران, 2003
In this paper, based on the annual househald budget survey and by using the input-output table, the main characteristics of the demand side of the domestic product market are analyzed. This has been exercised for different income groups.

AIDS versus the Rotterdam Demand System: A Cox Test with Parametric Bootstrap

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2002
A Cox test with parametric bootstrap is developed to select between the linearized version of the First-Difference Almost Ideal Demand System (FDAIDS) and the Rotterdam model.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Consumer Food Safety Concerns and Fresh Produce Consumption

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 1999
The linear approximation of an almost ideal demand system model was used to measure the impacts of prices, expenditures, and consumer food safety concerns on the consumption of 14 major fresh produce categories in the United States for the period 1970-92.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Factors affecting households' meat purchase and future meat consumption changes in China: a demand system approach

open access: yesJournal of Ethnic Foods, 2018
Background: China is the world's largest meat market. If consumption of meat in China continues to grow, there will likely be greater business opportunities for meat producers both in and outside of China.

Structural shifts in food basket composition of rural and urban Philippines: Implications for the food supply system.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Empirical evidence on the responsiveness and sensitivities of food consumption to its drivers is vital for conducting economic studies. Despite recent attempts to provide such estimates, much empirical work remains to be done considering the prevailing ...
