Potential Invasive Indo‐Pacific Acropora in a Coral Reef of Venezuela: A Contribution to Their Morphological and Molecular Knowledge

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
We report the first record of a non‐native hermatypic coral in Venezuela, exhibiting biological traits characteristic of invasive species. The coral is a member of the genus Acropora (Scleractinia: Acroporidae), native to the Indo‐Pacific. This non‐native petrous coral occurred in a reef of the Morrocoy National Park, in the southern Caribbean.

Autonomous Planetary Rover Navigation and Crater‐Based Map Augmentation for Path Planning and Rock Localization Using Space ROS

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Autonomous planetary rovers operate in GPS‐denied, low‐texture, crater‐rich environments where traditional SLAM‐based navigation systems suffer from localization drift and unreliable obstacle handling. To address these challenges, this work proposes a Space‐ROS–based autonomous navigation framework integrating ROS2 with the NAV2 stack, RTAB‐Map visual ...

A CNN‐Based Deep Learning Architecture for Discriminating Botanical Adulteration and Complexities Among Commercial Apiaceae Medicinal Species

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study presents a deep learning framework for the automated authentication of 15 medicinal Apiaceae species using digital images of their mericarps. The pipeline integrates an augmentation module—incorporating rescaling, rotation, and flipping—to improve model generalization, followed by feature extraction using pre‐trained DenseNet121 as the core ...

Multi‐Frame Image Registration for Automated Ventricular Function Assessment in Single Breath‐Hold Cine MRI Using Limited Labels

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 1762-1777, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose This study aims to develop an automated framework for operator‐independent assessment of cardiac ventricular function from highly accelerated images. Methods We introduce a deep learning framework that generates reliable ventricular volumetric parameters and strain measures from fully sampled and retrospectively accelerated MR images ...

Uncovering a new species of Hemileccinum (Boletaceae, Basidiomycota) from India with morphological characteristics and multi‐gene molecular phylogeny

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 3, March 2026.
While undertaking macrofungal forays to several forested areas of Uttarakhand (India), a noteworthy and previously unknown species of Hemileccinum was unveiled. This species is proposed here as Hemileccinum indicum sp. nov. It is presented with both morphological characteristics and multigene molecular phylogenetic analysis.

Five New Species of New Zealand Hemiandrus Ander 1938 Ground wētā (Orthoptera: Anostostomatidae)

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Zoology, Volume 53, Issue 1, March 2026.
Five new species of ground wētā endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand are described based on morphological traits and informed by phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial DNA sequences. Hemiandrus briarae sp. nov. is a robust species living on mountains in northeast South Island, and H. dryadis sp. nov. is a gracile denizen of forests in northwest South Island.

Distilling food web dynamics: top–down and bottom–up drivers of extinction and trophic cascades

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 3, March 2026.
Quantifying population dynamics is a fundamental challenge in ecology and evolutionary biology, particularly for species that are cryptic, microscopic, or extinct. Traditional approaches rely on continuous representations of population size, but in many cases, the precise number of individuals is unknowable.

Amphiphilic Block Copolymer‐Functionalized VO2 Nanocomposites for Smart Waterborne Polyurethane Coatings

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aqueous vanadium dioxide (VO2)‐based smart thermal insulation coatings represent a viable strategy to decrease building energy consumption and advance sustainable development goals. However, the inherent instability and limited compatibility with polymer matrices of VO2 hinder its widespread application.

IDLB: An SDN‐Based Load‐Balancing Routing Protocol for Autonomous Satellite Constellation Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, Volume 44, Issue 2, Page 109-127, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Routing in satellite constellation networks with intersatellite links has become an important aspect to enable broadband Internet access and to integrate into terrestrial networks. However, their dynamic characteristics and large physical size require specifically tailored solutions.

Traveltime Tomography to Unravel the Chalk Group Structures at the Gassum CCS Site, Denmark

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT In carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, it is important to investigate the seal properties, which often include the shallower part of the investigated area. Reflection seismic data in most of the Danish Basin appear less strong and coherent in the top 500 m, and hence reflectivity alone cannot be used to study the integrity of these ...
