Anaerobic biodegradability of polyvinyl alcohol
Biotechnology Letters, 1993Biodegradability of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) under anaerobic conditions was demonstrated using anaerobic river sediments and anaerobically treated activated sludge from a sewage treatment plant. PVA having molecular weights of 2000 and 14000 was over 60% biodegraded as determined by TOC.

Anaerobic biodegradation of hexazinone in four sediments
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2009Anaerobic biodegradation of hexazinone was investigated in four sediments (L1, L2, Y1 and Y2). Results showed that the L2 sediment had the highest biodegradation potential among four sediments. However, the Y1 and Y2 sediments had no capacity to biodegrade hexazinone.

Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1999ABSTRACT Benzene oxidation to carbon dioxide linked to nitrate reduction was observed in enrichment cultures developed from soil and groundwater microcosms. Benzene biodegradation occurred concurrently with nitrate reduction at a constant ratio of 10 mol of nitrate consumed per mol of benzene degraded.
