Nitrogen and sulphur management: challenges for organic sources in temperate agricultural systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A current global trend towards intensification or specialization of agricultural enterprises has been accompanied by increasing public awareness of associated environmental consequences. Air and water pollution from losses of nutrients, such as nitrogen (

Magnetite Nanoparticles and Carbon Nanotubes for Improving the Operation of Mesophilic Anaerobic Digesters

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Anaerobic waste processing contributes to the development of the bioenergy sector and solves environmental problems. To date, many technologies have been developed for increasing the rate of the anaerobic digestion process and yield of methane.

Anaerobic Decomposition of Glutathione in Aqueous Solution

open access: yesJournal of the agricultural chemical society of Japan, 1973

Biochemistry Changes That Occur after Death: Potential Markers for Determining Post-Mortem Interval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Death is likely to result in very extensive biochemical changes in all body tissues due to lack of circulating oxygen, altered enzymatic reactions, cellular degradation, and cessation of anabolic production of metabolites.

Anaerobic digestion is the dominant pathway for pit latrine decomposition and is limited by intrinsic factors

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2019
In vitro methods were used to assess the full potential for decomposition (measured as biogas formation) from pit latrine samples taken from the top layer of 15 Tanzanian latrines.

Boosting landfill gas production from lignin-containing wastes via termite hindgut microorganism. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Lignocellulose comprises a significant portion of municipal solid waste (MSW) - 40-70% in developed countries, including paper, wood, and yard waste. Cellulose and hemicellulose are often shielded by lignin, posing a barrier to waste decomposition and ...

Anaerobic microsites have an unaccounted role in soil carbon stabilization

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Mechanisms controlling soil carbon storage and feedbacks to the climate system remain poorly constrained. Here, the authors show that anaerobic microsites stabilize soil carbon by shifting microbial metabolism to less efficient anaerobic respiration and ...

Effect of tidal hydrology on soil anaerobic CO2 production of freshwater marsh in the Yellow River estuary wetland, China

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
Tidal hydrology has an important effect on anaerobic carbon decomposition in estuary wetlands. However, it remains unclear how soil anaerobic CO2 production responds to change in tidal hydrology.

Kinetic studies on decomposition of glutathione. II. Anaerobic decomposition in aqueous solution.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1980
Kinetics studies were performed on the non-enzymatic decomposition of glutathione (GSH) in anaerobic aqueous solution. The apparent first-order rate constants of decomposition were determined in the pH range of 1-12, ionic strength 0.5, at 60° and the pH profile was constructed from the buffer-free rate constants and pH values. The decomposition of GSH
