Reinforcing Oxygen Activation of Spinel Oxide via Mn─O Covalency Engineering for VOCs Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A MnCo spinel catalyst with weakened Mn─O covalency was synthesized via a hard‐template method. The reduced Mn─O covalency facilitates localized electron redistribution, promoting the activation of both molecular oxygen and lattice oxygen, and thereby enabling the efficient and complete oxidation of VOCs (ethyl acetate, toluene, and propane).

Destruction of Scots pine wood after a long exposure to anaerobic conditions [PDF]

open access: yesСибирский лесной журнал, 2019
The wood of Scots pine after 100–600-year exposure to anaerobic conditions was studied. The samples were taken from the soil during archaeological excavations in the city of Veliky Novgorod.

Metabolism‐Based Biomarkers for Rapid Phenotypic Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolic differences emerging after antibiotic exposure provide rapid phenotypic signals of susceptibility and resistance. This review summarizes metabolic biomarkers for rapid phenotypic AST, associated with nutrient uptake, respiratory activity, metabolic reprogramming, and enzymatic function. ABSTRACT The accelerating global crisis of antimicrobial

H2S‐Amplified “Three‐in‐One” Antibacterial Strategy for Periodontitis Treatment Using a Photosensitive Pillararene‐Embedded COF/MOF Hybrid

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The integration of ROS‐generating systems with H2S depletion strategies effectively overcomes the limitations imposed by endogenous antioxidant defenses on ROS‐based antimicrobial therapies. In this study, the Cu‐MOF is incorporated into pillararene‐embedded COF, achieving a “three‐in‐one” antimicrobial effect that markedly alleviated periodontal ...

Qualitative Analysis of Microbial Dynamics during Anaerobic Digestion of Microalgal Biomass in a UASB Reactor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, 2017
Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a microbiologically coordinated process with dynamic relationships between bacterial players. Current understanding of dynamic changes in the bacterial composition during the AD process is incomplete.

Peatland hydrology and carbon release: why small-scale process matters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Peatlands cover over 400 million hectares of the Earth's surface and store between one-third and one-half of the world's soil carbon pool. The long-term ability of peatlands to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere means that they play a major role ...
