Hydrogen from Biogas: Dynamic Modeling of an Integrated Shift Reactor

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A dynamic, two‐dimensional shift reactor model for the production of hydrogen from biogas is presented. This shift reactor enables the preheating of the biogas feed and, in parallel, reduces fixed‐bed temperatures, resulting in increased hydrogen yields. The model is validated with measurement data from a pilot biogas steam reforming plant.

Enhancement of the Plant‐Accessible Phosphate Fraction in Sewage Sludge Ashes by Na+ or K+ Addition Prior to Combustion

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The addition of Na2CO3 or K2CO3 to sewage sludge prior to combustion leads to the production of ashes containing phosphate in the form of buchwaldite‐like phases (Ca(Na/K)PO4). Compared to conventional sewage sludge mono‐ashes, such Na‐ or K‐ashes show greatly increased P‐solubilities and proved to be potent P‐fertiliser materials in greenhouse ...

Trace elements, rare earth elements and isotopes of poorly preserved fossils from lower Cretaceous carbonates (Eastern Black Sea): Implications for early diagenetic alteration

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
Analysing Rare Earth Elements (REEs) and other trace elements together with stable isotope data in poorly preserved belemnites can provide valuable insights into early diagenetic pathways, water‐interaction processes, and even potential redox conditions.

Experimental Investigation and Characterization of Biodiesel From Aregmone ocheroleuca

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The experimental investigation and characterization of biodiesel derived from Aregmone ochroleuca, a plant known for its oil‐rich seeds. The production of biodiesel from argemone oil, methanol, and potassium hydroxide catalysis through transesterification methods, and then characterized their properties, like the Effect of Reaction Temperature on ...

Decentralized Wind Energy Systems as Catalysts for Urban Resilience: A Design Framework

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Confronting the escalating extreme weather events (EWEs) and intensifying winds, this study proposes an active response to these issues by exploring decentralized wind energy production for Peng Chau Island, Hong Kong. It integrates theoretical perspectives on energy democracy—empowering local communities through energy autonomy—and urban ...

Techno‐Economic Assessment of Biofuels Production From Sugarcane Bagasse

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cooperative effect of climate change, rising fossil fuel prices and global fossil fuel depletion necessitates the production and use of renewable energy nationally and globally. The need for more energy‐producing methods is growing as energy consumption rises.
