Anaerobic Glycolysis in Bovine Dental Pulp
Journal of Dental Research, 1968Anaerobic glycolysis in bovine dental pulp was measured manometrically by the bicarbonate method. It is most prominent in dentinogenically active pulp. Although reasonably high initial activity seems possible. the rate of glycolysis declines rapidly under anaerobic conditions.

A Comparison of the Anaerobic Glycolysis of Human Brain and Glioblastoma
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1967T IlE purpose of this invest igat ion was to emnpare the glycolytic response of nmlignant a s t rocy tomas to tha t of the h u m a n brain (white mat te r ) when incuba ted under anaerobic conditions. Cerebral tissue rapidly reacts to oxygen depr ivat ion b y degrading glucose and glycogen to form an equivalent amoun t of lac ta te (two equivalents of ...

1983
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the anaerobic glycolysis of alligators. Resting oxidative energy in a 700 kg alligator is only a few watts, an amount insufficient for locomotion on land. Very little energy is required for even such a large animal to swim slowly, and it is probable that the amount is enough for that purpose.

Studies of anaerobic and aerobic glycolysis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Biochemistry, 1986Glucose metabolism was followed in suspensions of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by using 13C NMR and 14C radioactive labeling techniques and by Warburg manometer experiments. These experiments were performed for cells grown with various carbon sources in the growth medium, so as to evaluate the effect of catabolite repression.

Reduced anaerobic glycolysis in oral contraceptive users
Contraception, 1988Oral contraceptives containing combinations of estrogens and progestogens are known to impair glucose tolerance. The biochemical mechanisms underlying this lesion are speculative. In the present study women treated with OC for periods exceeding 10 cycles showed significant reduction in the activity of the key glycolytic enzyme phosphofructokinase (40%)

Anaerobic glycolysis in homogenates of Trichinella spiralis larvae
Experimental Parasitology, 1959Abstract 1. 1. Phosphorylative glycolysis has been demonstrated in T. spiralis larvae; fructose-1,6-diphosphate, diphosphopyridine nucleotide, magnesium, and pyruvate, were required for maximum activities. 2. 2. Lactic acid was an end product of glycolysis, although apparently not a major one.

Factors influencing the anaerobic glycolysis of brain and tumour
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B - Biological Sciences, 1956The effects of calcium ions, a variety of organic bases and sodium pyruvate on the anaerobic glycolysis of guinea-pig brain and tumour slices have been investigated. The presence of calcium ions exercises a marked stimulation of the conversion of glucose into lactic acid in presence of guinea-pig brain slices when these are bathed in a calcium-free ...

Aerobic and Anaerobic Glycolysis in the Liver after Hemorrhage
1973The local O2 supply of liver tissue during the development of hemorrhagic shock was investigated with O2 electrodes. It was found that local anoxia and disturbances in the microcirculation could be detected even in the early phase of hemorrhagic shock, when systolic blood pressure was still at or above 100 mm Hg.
