Energetics of anaerobic glycolysis in dog gastrocnemius

Pflügers Archiv, 1978
Thermally isolated gastrocnemii were stimulated to exhaustion, by rhythmic isotonic (70 N) tetanic contractions, during complete occlusion of blood flow. Enthalpy change (h = work + heat) and work output (w) (kJ/kg) were obtained from records of deep muscle temperature and shortening.

Anaerobic Glycolysis in Bovine Dental Pulp

Journal of Dental Research, 1968
Anaerobic glycolysis in bovine dental pulp was measured manometrically by the bicarbonate method. It is most prominent in dentinogenically active pulp. Although reasonably high initial activity seems possible. the rate of glycolysis declines rapidly under anaerobic conditions.

A Comparison of the Anaerobic Glycolysis of Human Brain and Glioblastoma

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1967
T IlE purpose of this invest igat ion was to emnpare the glycolytic response of nmlignant a s t rocy tomas to tha t of the h u m a n brain (white mat te r ) when incuba ted under anaerobic conditions. Cerebral tissue rapidly reacts to oxygen depr ivat ion b y degrading glucose and glycogen to form an equivalent amoun t of lac ta te (two equivalents of ...

Studies of anaerobic and aerobic glycolysis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Biochemistry, 1986
Glucose metabolism was followed in suspensions of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by using 13C NMR and 14C radioactive labeling techniques and by Warburg manometer experiments. These experiments were performed for cells grown with various carbon sources in the growth medium, so as to evaluate the effect of catabolite repression.

Reduced anaerobic glycolysis in oral contraceptive users

Contraception, 1988
Oral contraceptives containing combinations of estrogens and progestogens are known to impair glucose tolerance. The biochemical mechanisms underlying this lesion are speculative. In the present study women treated with OC for periods exceeding 10 cycles showed significant reduction in the activity of the key glycolytic enzyme phosphofructokinase (40%)
