Anaerobic fitness assessment in taekwondo athletes. A new perspective

open access: yesMotricidade, 2016
We intended to determine the concurrent validity of a taekwondo specific anaerobic test (TSAT) to assess anaerobic fitness in taekwondo athletes. Seventeen elite male subjects (17.59 ± 4.34 years of age; 1.72 m ± .07 m in height; 61.3 kg ± 8.7 kg in ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

The Aerobic and Anaerobic Contribution During Repeated 30-s Sprints in Elite Cyclists

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Although the ability to sprint repeatedly is crucial in road cycling races, the changes in aerobic and anaerobic power when sprinting during prolonged cycling has not been investigated in competitive elite cyclists. Here, we used the gross efficiency (GE)

Mechanistic Control of C─H Bond Activation and C─C Coupling in Light‐Driven Methane Conversion to C2+ Products over Multifunctional Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Methane photocatalytic activation under mild conditions remains a formidable challenge in the synthesis of solar fuels. In this review, we emphasize the growing importance of multifunctional materials and hybrid systems within a unified mechanistic framework that integrates selective C─H bond activation, formation and control of intermediates, C─C ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.
