A computational predictor of the anaerobic mechanical power outputs from a clinical exercise stress test.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
We previously were able to predict the anaerobic mechanical power outputs using features taken from a maximal incremental cardiopulmonary exercise stress test (CPET).

Exploring associations between sprinting mechanical capabilities, anaerobic capacity, and repeated-sprint ability of adolescent ice hockey players

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living, 2023
IntroductionSprinting ability and anaerobic capacities are the determinant variables of the performance of ice hockey players. Recent research in sprinting showed the existence of distinct force–velocity (F–V) profiles, but the link between these ...

An Evaluation of Tests of Anaerobic Power and Capacity

open access: yesMedicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2004
0799 A variety of testing procedures have been employed to quantify anaerobic power and capacity including maximal oxygen deficit and dept, wingate test, vertical jump tests, staircase test, and exhaustive constant load tests. Although the validity of these tests is questionable most of them have the ability to evaluate anaerobic capacity and ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Low-Load Blood Flow Restriction Training as an Effective Strategy for Improving Anaerobic Peak Power in Young Men

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of a 12-week blood flow restriction (BFR) resistance training (BFRRT) program in enhancing anaerobic power.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Gender comparisons in anaerobic power and anaerobic capacity tests. [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Sports Medicine, 1986
The purpose of the study was to compare anaerobic power and anaerobic capacity test scores between young active men and women. Three performance measures of anaerobic power and two of anaerobic capacity were administered to a sample comprising 52 male and 50 female college students (means age = 21.4 yrs).

Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Association between anaerobic components of the maximal accumulated oxygen deficit and 30-second Wingate test [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2015
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the anaerobic components of the maximal accumulated oxygen deficit (MAOD) and of the 30-second Wingate anaerobic test (30-WAnT).
