SMILE-like lesion in the anal canal

open access: yesAutopsy and Case Reports, 2021
Stratified mucin-producing intraepithelial lesion (SMILE) is an intraepithelial lesion with overlapping features of the high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) and adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS). Currently, it is well described in the cervix.

Habitat Differences in Resource Density and Distribution Affect Ecology and Life History of a Landscape‐Modifying Fish

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Resource heterogeneity is a widespread phenomenon, as resources are rarely spaced evenly across a landscape. Variation in resource density and distribution can have a myriad of behavioural, ecological, and evolutionary consequences for populations, yet clarifying these effects is still challenging.

Correlation of the Anatomy of the Intersphincteric Anal Fistula with Sex: An Analysis through Anorectal Three-Dimensional Ultrasound

open access: yesJournal of Coloproctology
Introduction Anal fistula surgery is often associated with continence disorders due to transection of the anal sphincter muscles. A comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the anal canal and fistula can help prevent this outcome.

Long‐Term Clinical and Physiological Outcomes in Patients Treated Non‐Surgically for Anorectal Malformations

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
The long‐term anorectal outcomes of non‐surgically treated patients diagnosed with minor types of ARM seem optimal. Most of these patients experience no constipation or fecal incontinence; some experience constipation and relatively seldom fecal incontinence. Furthermore, most patients possess all the known fecal continence mechanisms.

Genomic Evaluation of Canine Prostatic Carcinomas as a Model for the Human Disease: or ‘UC or not UC – that is the question’

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Spontaneous canine prostate cancer (PC) is widely considered a pertinent clinical model for the human disease. While over 95% of PC in men are adenocarcinomas, arising from prostatic glandular epithelium, it is increasingly recognised that many canine PC are of urothelial origin, arising within the prostatic urethra or ducts, or through ...

Detection of renal tubular transporter proteins in canine urinary extracellular vesicles using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
Abstract Urinary extracellular vesicles (UEVs) are membranous particles that carry renal tubular transporter proteins. Here, we evaluate whether selected renal tubular transporter proteins can be detected in UEVs isolated from small volume (1–5 mL) canine urine samples of healthy dogs and canine patients with elevated circulating parathyroid hormone ...
